Returns & Refunds
The short version
Unopened packs come back within 30 days for a refund, and you cover the return postage. If I sent the wrong thing or a bad pour, none of it costs you a cent — postage included. Colour shifting slightly from batch to batch is how hand-pouring works, and it isn’t a defect.
The long version is below, because “contact us for details” isn’t a policy.
30 days, unopened packs
If a pack is still sealed and it’s been 30 days or less since your order shipped, send it back for a full refund of what you paid for it. No explanation needed — “these aren’t what I pictured” is a complete reason.
Return shipping is on you in that case, and the pack has to arrive in resellable shape. A bag that’s been opened, fished, or rattling loose in a hot tackle tray can’t go back on the shelf, so I can’t take it back.
Opened packs
Once a bag is open I can’t sell it to anyone else, so opened packs aren’t returnable as a change of mind.
That said: if you opened a pack and something’s wrong with what’s inside, that isn’t a return, that’s a defect, and it’s covered below. Tell me either way. A stick bait that tears at the nose hook on the second fish is something I want to know about, because the fix for that is in the plastic, not in your refund.
When it’s my fault, it’s fully my problem
All of this is 100% on me, postage included:
- Wrong colour or wrong product in the package
- A pack short on count
- Baits that arrived fused, torn, or leaking
- A bad pour — air pockets through the body, a tail that came out half-formed, plastic that’s brittle or gummy
- Anything damaged in transit (the photo routine is on the shipping page)
Email me a photo and your order number. In most cases I won’t even ask for the baits back — it costs more to ship an $8 pack across the country than it costs me to pour another one. If I do need it returned, I’ll cover the postage up front rather than reimburse you later.
Colour variation between batches is normal
This one deserves a real explanation instead of a disclaimer.
Plastisol is a liquid until it’s cooked. I heat it in a pour pot, add colourant a few drops at a time, stir flake in by hand, and shoot it into an aluminum mold. A batch is a few dozen baits. Every one of those variables moves the finished colour a shade — how hot the plastic ran, how long the colourant had to disperse, how much flake was still in suspension by the last pour instead of settled at the bottom of the pot.
So green pumpkin poured in March and green pumpkin poured in July are the same recipe and not identical twins. The July batch might be a touch darker, or carry heavier flake. Watermelon red does the same thing — flake count per bait is not something a hand pour holds to a tolerance. The big brands running injection machines have this too. They just have the volume to sort it out of sight.
No fish has ever complained. Clear-water smallmouth read silhouette and action first, and a shade of tint on a ned rig sitting on a rock flat is a long way down the list. Take the photos on the site as the colour family, and the bag in your hand as exactly what that batch looked like.
Where it stops being normal: if you ordered june bug and what showed up is plainly black/blue, that’s not batch drift, that’s me grabbing the wrong bag off the wrong shelf. Same if one bait is a noticeably different size than the rest of the pack. Email me — that one’s mine.
What I can’t take back
- Opened packs, unless there’s a defect
- Baits that have been fished
- Custom or one-off colour pours made to your request
- Anything sent back more than 30 days after it shipped
Seconds and clearance packs are sold as-is — those are baits with cosmetic flaws I’ve already discounted for, so a bit of flash or an uneven pour on those isn’t grounds for a refund. If a seconds pack turns up genuinely unfishable, that’s still on me.
How to start a return
- Email [[NEEDS: his support email address]] with your order number, what you’re sending back, and why. Photos if it’s a defect — the bait and the bag, in daylight if you can manage it.
- I’ll answer within two business days with the return address. Don’t send anything back before you have it; parcels that turn up unannounced are hard to match to an order.
- Put a note with your order number inside the package.
- Use a tracked service if you can. I can only refund what actually arrives, and an untracked return that goes missing is a bad afternoon for both of us.
Refunds and timing
Once a return lands here I process it within two business days and email you when I do. The money goes back to the card or account you paid with — I can’t send it somewhere else.
Your bank then takes its own sweet time, usually 5-10 business days. If it’s been longer than that after my email, check with your bank first, then come back to me.
Original shipping is refunded only when the fault was mine. And if you had free shipping on a $50-plus order and a return drops it below $50, I’m not clawing the shipping cost back out of your refund. That would be a weasel move.
Cancelling an order
Email as fast as you can. If it hasn’t shipped, I’ll cancel it and refund the whole thing, no questions asked. Once it’s in the mail it becomes a return like any other. Since orders leave here in 1-2 business days, “as fast as you can” is doing real work in that sentence.
Your rights
None of this replaces provincial consumer protection law. If anything here reads as less than what the law in your province gives you, the law wins. This policy is meant to be more generous than the minimum, not a way around it.
Not sure a bait is right for the water you fish before you buy? Email me, or read through the journal and the species pages first — walleye and pike want very different things out of a soft plastic, and the cheapest return is the one that never has to happen.
